Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy reportedly isn’t on the hot seat as the NFL regular season its final stretch, despite a miserable first year as the coach of “America’s Team.”
According to the NFL Network, McCarthy’s job won’t be on the line as the franchise examines what went wrong in 2020. Entering Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas is just 3-9 after losing quarterback Dak Prescott to a season-ending ankle injury and struggling mightily on defense.
McCarthy was hired after the 2019 season after the Cowboys fired former coach Jason Garrett.
Not so safe is defensive coordinator Mike Nolan.
The NFL Network added that the Cowboys are eyeing changes there after Nolan produced a unit that ranks 30th in defensive DVOA, a Football Outsiders stat that measures efficiency.
