The Carolina League, with Hurricane Florence on the way, decided to skip a best-of-5 game title series and play a winner-take-all game Tuesday.

The Astros farm team in Buies Creek, North Carolina, won at home 2-1 in 11 innings Tuesday over the Potomac Nationals to claim the title.

Potomac is a farm team of the Washington Nationals based in Woodbridge, Va.

A hurricane forced the Mills Cup series to be canceled last week in the Carolina League.
