The original “scream queen” Jamie Lee Curtis cracked a horror joke about the current state of American politics after her “Halloween” sequel debuted Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival.

During a 2 a.m. Q&A that followed the film’s screening, Ms. Curtis was asked if she’s ever scared in real life.

“You know, life’s a little scary. I live in America,” she joked. “This [expletive’s] getting real, so I’m scared every day.”

Ms. Curtis has not made her disdain for President Trump a secret. In January, she called him an embarrassment to the country for alleged comments he made during a closed-door meeting with senators.
