After weeks of relentless hype from the mainstream media hungry for new and interesting ways to promote negative stories about President Trump, Omarosa Manigault Newman’s tell-all tome has landed at the top spot of the New York Times Bestseller list.
Unhinged is a first-hand account of the reality star’s time in the Trump Administration including several unsubstantiated allegations that Trump has been caught on tape using the “N-word” during tapings of The Apprentice and Omarosa’s belief that the president is mentally incapacitated.
There is zero evidence to support the headline-grabbing claims and Omarosa has little to no credibility but that didn’t stop cable and broadcast news outlets from running endless stories about them and the book for the past two weeks.
Media Research Center has a great breakdown of how the networks covered the book’s outlandish claims while conceding (at the end of their reports) that there was no basis for the book’s most salacious accusations and the author lacked the credibility to give the claims any real attention. But, of course, they gave them plenty of attention.
And now the payoff. #1 New York Times bestseller. Mission accomplished.
Ironically, the #2 book on the NY Times non-fiction list, right behind Unhinged, is Greg Jarret’s explosive, documented and thoroughly researched explainer on the media-created Russian collusion narrative called The Russia Hoax. That book contains hundreds of footnotes and each argument and bit of evidence is substantiated with facts and detailed reference. So, naturally, it’s gotten barely any mainstream media coverage compared to Omarosa’s gossip rag.
