Jim Carrey has spent days ranting on Twitter against a new law in California that requires all public school children to be vaccinated beginning in 2016.
The 53-year-old actor slammed Gov. Jerry Brown, who signed the legislation Tuesday, as a “corporate fascist” who is “poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum” with mandatory vaccines.
“California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in [mandatory] vaccines. This corporate fascist must be stopped,” he wrote Tuesday. “They say mercury in fish is dangerous but forcing all of our children to be injected with mercury in [Thimerosal] is no risk. Make sense?”
“The CDC can’t solve a problem they helped start. It’s too risky to admit they have been wrong about mercury/thimerasol [sic]. They are corrupt,” he wrote.
“All we are saying is, ‘Take the neurotoxins out of the vaccines.’ Make them toxin free. History will show that that was a reasonable request,” he continued on Wednesday. “A trillion dollars buys a lot of expert opinions. Will it buy you? TOXIN FREE VACCINES, A REASONABLE REQUEST!”
California’s new law removes personal belief exemptions for vaccinations due to religious reasons. Mr. Carrey was once in a relationship with Jenny McCarthy, the public face of the anti-vaccination movement who blamed her son’s autism on vaccines, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Famed environmental activist and lawyer Erin Brockovich tweeted her support for Mr. Carrey, writing, “‘Let me tell ya something’ @JimCarrey is right!! - I’m pro vaccine but anti government mandate - do not tell us what to put in our bodies.”
